Kelsey McCormick, of Marysville High School, will serve as Youth Advisory Council (YAC) President this year. Kelsey is a three year member of YAC and she is a senior.
Kelsey is in in many different extra-curricular activities at Marysville High School. She is involved in many school clubs, including a club called Task Group 5 where they help the school and local community. She is also involved in the National Honor Society and the Steering Committee, where she is the president of the senior class. Kelsey has also been on the Varsity Swim and Dive Team for four years, and is currently captain. Last year Kelsey also joined the Varsity Tennis team. Aside from school sports, Kelsey has also been part of the Blue Water Swim Club for seven years and trains year-round with them. Kelsey loves to swim, hang out with her friends and family, and listen to music in her free time.
Kelsey first heard about the Youth Advisory Council from her school counselor. Her counselor told her that YAC was an organization that helps the community in various ways and it is all run by students in high school from the St. Clair county area and she thought it was a perfect fit for Kelsey. Kelsey decided to join YAC to help the community because this area means everything to her, it’s her hometown and she loves St. Clair County. YAC represents everything that she loves to do. Kelsey hopes that as president of YAC, she can help lead a great generation of kids to help the community in so many ways. She wants the Youth Advisory Council to make a difference in our community in any way, whether it is big or small and to help YAC become more well-known so people know that high school students do care about their community, are willing to help and can make a difference.
