2018 Donor Advised Fund Grant Highlights
Posted on January 10, 2019
We enjoy helping donors make charitable giving easier through their donor advised funds (DAF). In 2018, our donor advised fund holders provided $280,000 in grants that supported 50+ projects, programs and organizations.
A few highlights:
- $26,500 to support building maintenance and repairs at Fort Gratiot Light County Park
- $25,000 from the Kusch Family Fund to the EDA to launch the Advanced Skills Scholarship for Employment and Training program
- $22,000 Liberty Riders, Inc. from the DeWald/Cook Charitable Fund
- $15,000 from the James C. Acheson Fund to support the Blue Water Habitat for Humanity Howard Street home project
- $11,000 to several Algonac projects, programs and organizations through the Algonac Lions Club Fund
Other organizations receiving support include: Salvation Army, Cardinal Mooney Catholic High School, Camas Valley Christian Fellowship, Cross Current Church, Hunter Hospitality House, Planned Parenthood of Michigan, Port Huron Schools and Sanborn Gratiot Memorial Home just to name a few.
One of our first DAFs was the John W. & M. Louise Shier Family Fund created back in 1998.
We now have over 60 DAFs that are as broad as supporting the general charitable interests of the donor to specific focus areas like that of the Shier family.
Donor advised funds have exploded in popularity because:
- Support charities you love now or over time
- Grow your donation tax-free
- Get just one tax receipt
- Donate cash, stocks, real estate and more
- Give anonymously, if you wish
