2018- Year in Grants

It was another great year for the Community Foundation with a record setting 600 grants approved in 2018, totaling $2,883,983.65 that our donors helped put back into St. Clair County.

The top two priority areas of impact, each at 30% of the total funding, were in Community & Economic Prosperity and Cradle to Career Exploration.

                    Here are some grants that stood out in 2018:

Algonac-Clay Township Historical Society-Maritime Museum Roof Repair- $25,000

Michigan Chapter - Antique and Classic Boat Society- Antique and Classic Boat Show- $20,000

Our Emily Bigalow fund for first responders granted out $8,000 to the Port Huron Police Dept. for the Hometown Hero Program.

We had two of our Complete Your Degree students graduate in 2018; Sherry Graham and Nikki Leonard.
   
   
The Blue Water Art Council granted out a total of 10 youth guitars to Port Huron High School and Riverview East High School for acoustic guitar classes. 

The Youth Advisory Council granted out to 11 organizations for an overall $42,112.62 in 2018.


 
The Eastern Michigan Christian Foundation  granted out a total of $101,782.37 in 2018.

Our Women’s Initiative 100 Women event and our C3 100 Men event winners were Mid-City Nutrition and the Blue Water Area YMCA.

Kayla Parzynski was a recipient of our Come Home Award.

To go along with the $7,500 that was granted to Comprehensive Youth Services, this year the Community Foundation donated the entire youth home to the organization.
