Algonac Clay Fund Grants
Posted on May 6, 2019
The Algonac Clay Community Fund recently awarded $10,000 at their annual Cinco de Mayo event. Established in 2004, the community fund continues giving back to the Algonac and Clay communities through grants and scholarships.
Thanks to the generosity of the community giving back to their home town fund, Algonac Clay has provided over $83,000 total. This year a few new local organizations received grants as well as some long-standing organizations and programs.
A $1,500 grant was provided to the The Knights of Columbus Council #7227 who will match these funds to help ensure that no Algonac family goes hungry. The Knights of Columbus have worked with the Algonac Food Pantry for the past 9 years and it’s great to see these two groups working closely together to provide for local families.
Over 400 local Algonac children receive help each year through the Care Bag Movement. For the last 8 years, the Care Bag Movement has provided immediate necessities to children being placed into foster care. The program also recently expanded to provide necessities to children and families that local first responders encounter in distressed situations. A $500 grant will help more care bags be available for children in a time of great need.
Hundreds of people use the Algonac Little League facilities each year. This year 300 children are registered to play ball and the Algonac Little League is adding picnic tables at the concession stand area for the teams and families to enjoy before and after the games. The community fund is supporting this project with a $600 grant.
Other grants awarded this year include:
We are pleased to help the Algonac/Clay Community Fund support these worthwhile local community endeavors.
