Algonac/Clay Scholarship Recipients
Posted on May 7, 2019
The Community Foundation is pleased to announce the first of our 2019 scholarship recipients, who were celebrated during our Algonac/Clay Community Fund’s Cinco de Mayo event.
The Algonac/Clay committee helps with the selection of half the Fuller Hansen Educational Trust Scholarship and the Joseph Caimi Scholarship.
This year’s Fuller Hansen recipients include Trevor Edens, Sara Osterland, Lindsay Dunn and Carly Brandt. This fund benefits those who are pursuing a career to benefit humankind.
Edens is attending Grand Valley State University to study biomedical sciences. Osterland is heading off to Loyola University for exercise science with the goal of becoming a physical therapist. Dunn will study dental hygiene at Ferris State and Brandt to Michigan State for pre-med.
Dunn and Brandt both also graduated from Blue Water Middle College with their associate’s from SC4 the same night as the Cinco de Mayo event, so could not attend.
The Joseph Caimi Scholarship is for graduates of Algonac High School with a preference for those pursuing an education degree.
Both Sasha Nash and Madeline Reed received the award this year. Nash is heading off to Central Michigan University, where she will dual major in speech language pathology and special education. She will be joining Reed there, who is returning for her sophomore year as an elementary education major.
