American Association of University Women - Donor Spotlight

Posted on January 1, 2007

imageThe local chapter of the American Association of University Women has been supporting the efforts of the Community Foundation since 1965. The Port Huron chapter was founded in 1920 and its members come from throughout St. Clair County and northern Macomb County.

For the last three years the group of 63 members has earned the nickname of the “sock ladies” for their efforts at the Back to School event. Last year the local chapter donated $1,000 which purchased 2,600 pair of socks which were bundled in packages of two and given out to 1,300 kids.

In addition to the Community Foundation events they support, the AAUW also;

  • Gives stipends to women attending SC4
  • Provides on-site lunches for Habitat for Humanity work groups
  • Provides financial support to the Blue Water Council Girl Scouts’ Gold Award Scholarship Fund
  • Volunteers as lunch buddies at local schools

The Community Foundation is proud to support the charitable efforts of the American Association of University Women. For more information visit their website at www.aauwmi.org.
