2017 ushers in change to board
Posted on December 16, 2016
With the changing of the year comes changes to the Community Foundation board of trustees.
In 2017 we will see a new face at the table, that of Dr. John Strycker, superintendent of Algonac Community Schools. Although a first-time trustee, Strycker has served on the Foundation’s Algonac/Clay Committee as well as partnered with us for our Fueling the Future pilot program.
We will also welcome back old friends Charles Kelly and William Oldford. Kelly is a partner at Kelly Law Firm and Oldford is president of Eastern Michigan Bank. Both have served as trustees and on multiple committees in the past.
Term limits mean we said goodbye to Catherine Wilkinson and Daniel Lockwood during our December board meeting. They both provided years of priceless commitment and dedication to Foundation causes.
Finally, Michael Cansfield was elected chair of the board and will take over for Donna Niester. Niester has served four years as chair and is the first woman to hold this position at the Community Foundation. She will still serve on the board as immediate past chair.
Cansfield is a vice president at Michigan Mutual and Niester is CEO of Acheson Ventures.
