Committees welcome new members

The Community Foundation of St. Clair County’s board isn’t the only thing to see change for the new year. Several other committees will also receive new blood.
The Blue Water Arts committee will have three members joining in 2017: Tom Walker, Patti Yunker and Jennifer Montgomery.
Tom was a long-time columnist and editor for the Times Herald newspaper, starting back in 1988 until he left the paper in early 2015. He’s also a talented musician and can be found playing in clubs and venues throughout southeast Michigan.
Patti also brings years of experience to the local art scene. She is the owner of the Gold Rodent Gallery and Exquisite Corpse Coffeehouse and also serves on the Port Huron Art Initiative.
Jennifer is the president and CEO of McLaren Port Huron Hospital and serves on the board of the Nutcracker Ballet Theatre Company.
This will be their first time serving on a Community Foundation committee.
The scholarship committee will also have some new faces, including that of Rev. Kevin Totty Sr. Kevin is the job training coordinator for the Crossing Education Center, which helps at risk students and dropouts become entrepreneurs.
Long-time Community Foundation partner Sheri Faust will also be joining a committee. Although already a Women’s Initiative member, this is the first year she will be joining the group’s steering committee. Sheri has also helped take care of the Community Foundation’s Blue Water River Walk in her role as president of Friends of the St. Clair River. She works as the environmental health educator for St. Clair County’s storm water program.
