Donor Spotlight- Donna Niester
Posted on October 25, 2018
When you think of the word, philanthropy, one cannot help but think of Donna Niester. Whether she is raising funds for her Breast Cancer Fund, supporting projects and programs through the James C. Acheson Foundation, Niester Family Fund or individually, she is all about giving back to her community.
Donna’s passion and leadership include providing backpacks full of school supplies to those in need; educating, engaging and empowering women in philanthropy through the Women’s Initiative; nurturing artists and making art accessible at Studio 1219; and transforming our waterfront with the Blue Water River Walk, just to name a few. Donna’s love and commitment to our community is an inspiration for all.
When we asked Donna why she gives to the Community Foundation, she responded, “Because it’s easy! The Foundation is my go to for charitable giving. They are the pulse of our community and can easily help facilitate my gift giving.”
Donna became the first female chair of the Community Foundation in 2012. She currently sits on our Audit, Governance and Complete Your Degree committees. She is a Legacy Society member and Charter Member of the Women’s Initiative.
