Gerry Bouchard

The Foundation mourns the loss of local leader and 22 year trustee, Gerald Bouchard, who passed passed away on May 1, 2018 in Bonita Springs, FL at the age of 86.
Gerry was born in Maine and spent time in Washington D.C., Pennsylvania, Saginaw, MI and Massachusetts before arriving in Port Huron in 1965. He served as City Manager for 32 years and helped to create the Industrial Development Corporation in the late sixties to generate jobs in the city’s Industrial Park. He was an active member of the International City/County Management Association (ICMA) until his retirement in 1997. He was on the executive board of ICMA from 1980 to 1982 as a regional Vice President. He was a member of the ICMA Retirement Committee for two years where he helped create an organization dedicated to a portable compensation retirement plan for public sector employees and thus ICMA-RC was formed.
Gerry was a trustee of the Community Foundation from 1971 to 1993. He was also a member of Port Huron Golf Club and Shadow Wood Country Club in Bonita Springs, FL. He was known for his vision, loyalty, and love for Port Huron,
Gerry is survived by his loving wife Mary, of sixty years; his three daughters, grandchildren, step-grandsons, great granddaughter, four brothers, cousin, niece and nephews.
