Grants surpass $1.6 million

The Community Foundation has surpassed $1.6 million in grants so far in 2014.

Over $300,000 of those awards have supported education related programs while another $745,000 has supported community development.  These grants include some finishing work on the Blue Water River Walk and improvements that are underway to the St. Clair Plaza Courtyard.  Arts & culture organizations have benefited through a number of grants, including those to the Algonac Community Theatre, Blue Water Jazz Society, and the Lexington Arts Council.
