June board meeting marks milestones

A crowd of current, former and future Community Foundation of St. Clair County trustees filled the Port Huron Golf Club on June 23 for the annual dinner board meeting. They came to celebrate years of change and adaption.
Randy Maiers, president of the Community Foundation, highlighted milestones focusing on community investment.
Humble beginnings included projects like building a pool in Algonac and buying a house for homeless youth.
“What took days of special meetings then would now take two minutes,” Maiers said.
Today the Community Foundation has funded projects such as the Blue Water River Walk and the St. Clair Plaza Park.
But as the saying goes, the more things change the more they stay the same. Three staff members were also honored during the dinner for their years of work with the foundation.
This year marked Karen Lee’s, director of finance, 20th year at the foundation. Lindsay Parslow, program officer, and Sue Schmid, development officer, both celebrated 10 years. All three received gifts and flowers in recognition.
