From Chuck Kelly, Chairman
Dear Friends:
As you are all well aware, St. Clair County faces many challenges and opportunities in the field of philanthropy. Since our Foundation was created in 1944 we have strived to provide community leadership via philanthropy to improve our quality of life.
To help us respond to these challenges and opportunities, I am pleased to inform you that the Foundation has hired a new vice president of the Foundation who will begin work on January 3rd.
Lynn Borg has an extensive background in major gifts, fund raising, program management and foundation operations. She has undergraduate and graduate degrees from the University of Michigan, and previously worked for our president, Randy Maiers, at the Education Foundation of the Society of Manufacturing Engineers. She was most recently employed at the University of Michigan.
Lynn will assume responsibilities for our major gift and endowment development, including providing support for all of our public and community funds. For the next three years her position is being completely funded through a capacity building grant from the James C. Acheson Foundation.
The addition of this new position will allow our president, Randy Maiers, to focus more of his time with our major donors and on our strategic priority area of community development, particularly our emphasis on supporting the growth of our downtowns.
Lynn is married with two small children, and her family is currently searching for a home in the City of St. Clair. She has fond memories of the summers she spent at her family’s home on Harsen’s Island. To help welcome Lynn to the community we will be holding a reception for her at the Fred Moore Boat House on Wednesday, January 9th. Please call the Foundation office to RSVP if you would like to attend.
