Posted on August 1, 2017

The Community Foundation is once again partnering with the Johnson Center at Grand Valley State University for a nonprofit workshop series this fall. The Leadership Cohort will feature three 2 ½ hour educational sessions for selected staff of St. Clair County organizations.

Education, discussion and applied activities will be built on a sustainability model for nonprofits and include the following:

Session 1 on Sept. 25: overview of four-step sustainability model and a deeper dive into the first step centered on organizational focus. This session will create understanding of how clearly defining the organization’s purpose and vision can provide the foundation for long-term sustainability. Participants will learn tips to develop and articulate purpose, vision and values as well as exploring various types of planning necessary for sustainability.

Session 2 on Oct. 23: insights on developing both people and partnerships as a means of creating sustainability. Participants will learn tips how to develop organizational leadership, including board, staff and key volunteers. The session will also provide tips on community engagement and collaboration.

Session 3 on on Nov. 27: creating sustainable revenue.Participants will learn the basics of fund development strategy and how the various pieces of the sustainability model fit together to drive programming.

It is highly recommended and encouraged participants attend all three sessions. Each session will be held from 1:30 - 4 p.m. on the days listed above.

Cost is $50 total for all three sessions if registered by end of August, or $25 per session if registered after August.
