FAMILY READ NIGHTS DISTRIBUTE OVER 2,000 BOOKS TO ELEMENTARY STUDENTS

The Women’s Initiative in collaboration with the Acheson Foundation, Cargill, Chrysler UAW 375, CSB Bank, Port Huron Hospital Foundation, Quota Club of Port Huron and Woman’s Life offered eight Family Read Nights in St. Clair County.  Over 75 volunteers participated in the events that provided a fun, positive family evening with a focus on reading.  Betty Veen, member of Quota Club and volunteer at the Harrison Elementary Family Read Night, had as much fun as the children.  “I really feel that it is a worth while activity.  It made me feel good to see all of the smiles on their faces and the kids were thrilled to pick out new books to take home.”

Thank you to everyone who helped kids get excited about reading at the Family Read Nights.
