River Walk Restoration Phase Begins

Posted on September 17, 2012

Work began last week on the lengthy and expensive process of reversing almost 100 years of industrial abuse along the shores of the St. Clair River in Port Huron.  Over the next few weeks a pilot phase will be completed, restoring 300’ + of shoreline.  The majority of the shoreline work will then resume again early next spring and probably last into early 2014.  The sheer volume of industrial debris and remnants being unearthed along the shoreline and in the shallow waters is astounding.  The total projected costs of restoring this shoreline to a more natural condition is approximately $2.4 million.
