St. Clair Graduates Want to Give Back
Posted on September 10, 2010
The Class of 2000 was often referred to as a class different than most from St. Clair High School. They were the first class of the new Millennium and as a group they accomplished many things during their high school years. This theme has continued, more than a decade after graduation.
The SCHS Class of 2000 Giving Back Fund was established by a group of former St. Clair High School graduates who feel it is important to support the community that supported them growing up. Originally, the class planned to host a philanthropic event during their 10 year reunion weekend to contribute to the scholarship fund of their classmate Jackie Sargent who passed away shortly after graduation. The response to charity work as a class was overwhelmingly positive so it was decided to broaden the scope for the future. Establishing the Giving Back Fund allows the class to choose other organizations in years to come which they can support.
Although the Class of 2000 is now scattered across the country, their Giving Back Fund is a way for them to still make a positive impact in their hometown. It is their way to say ‘thank you’ to the community that did so much for them. The class will collectively decide which causes they will support and they will range from educational support, to humanitarian efforts and most things in between.
The Fund will continue the Class of 2000 legacy… a group of people who can do great things.
