Students Doing Good For Others
Posted on May 10, 2012
Fair Haven Elementary School Students have been busy doing good things for others and for their environments thanks to a couple YAC minigrants.
A few classrooms worked together to request money for their Gardening Club. According to one student, “I like that you gave us money for Junior Master Gardeners. Now we can grow flowers and dig and we all love the flowers! We made little flowers for all the classrooms that got the grant. We used recycled milk cartons. We cut them and covered them with tissue and cellophane.”
Another classroom of Fifth grade students took up crocheting in order to create items for the senior citizens. According to their teacher “The students were so proud of their work and were eager to take the ones home that they made. They were equally as proud to choose which of the two they made for the senior citizens. The dish clothes (rags—as the student called them!) and the pin cushions will be delivered to the Rolling Brook Apartment senior citizens by one of my students and her mom this weekend in time for Mothers Day.”
