Touch a Freighter

Posted on June 12, 2013

Have you ever wanted to be right next to a freighter in Lake Huron? Or take a ride on the pilot boat, the Huron Belle?

If so, here is your chance!

Your adventure will begin at the Lake Pilots Association Inc Headquarters where you will board the Huron Belle along with the boarding pilot and the pilot boat crew.  You will then take the 30 minute boat ride to catch up to a freighter and witness a pilot exchange first hand.

Throughout your adventure you will get to enjoy the fascinating views of the Blue Water Bridges and the oldest light house in Michigan, along with hearing stories from both the boarding pilot and the debarking pilot.

This program raises funds for the Community Foundation’s Maritime Fund, so you are not only gaining a once in a lifetime experience, but you would also be supporting our St. Clair County waterways.

For more information, call Captain Gerry Kramer at 810-434-8560.
