YAC Delivers Minigrants

Posted on March 14, 2012

Members of the Youth Advisory Council (YAC) delivered minigrant checks to 5 different classes at Fair Haven Elementary School totaling $1,000.  Fair Haven students will be engaging in a number of community related activities.  One classroom will be learning how to crochet and quilt to make dishcloths and pin cushions for senior citizens and Mother’s Day gifts.  The other classrooms will be participating in the new Come Grow with Me program that was started from a minigrant YAC awarded in 2011.  The program has expanded to multipple classrooms and they have formed a Junior Master Gardener’s Club.  The students are excited to get planting- they plan on planting vegetables and flowers.  One student said her favorite part of the Club is making the earth a better place.
