Natalie Green, the Youth Advisory Council’s (YAC) president, was recently appointed to the Michigan Community Foundations Youth Project (MCFYP) committee. Natalie is the first member of the St. Clair County YAC to be appointed to this committee.
The MCFYP Committee is a permanent standing committee of the Council on Michigan Foundations (CMF) with the purpose to work with CMF staff to review and oversee the activities undertaken by CMF to support community foundation youth advisory committees (YACs) and to promote youth as grantmakers. The committee consists of 15 members: 12 of whom are youth under the age of 21, with experience as members of a community foundation youth advisory committee, and three adult advisors.
The committee also advises on development and promotion of tools for youth philanthropy such as best practices, regional trainings for YACs, training for YAC advisors, and other web and social media opportunities to promote the work of YACs and youth philanthropy.
Natalie is a senior at Marysville High School. She has been a member of YAC during all four years of high school.
YAC has been in existence for 20 years. Over 100 youth from all over St. Clair County have served on the committee throughout those 20 years. Grant awards total over $900,000 supporting youth programs throughout the county.
